His mutation first appeared when he was twelve years old. Claws erupted from their hiding places and super human strength first reared its ugly head, killing a man named ‘Logan’. He had been witness to the man shooting his father, which had triggered his mutation to manifest itself. Up until that moment, he had been a sickly child, his healing ability only beginning when the claws tore his skin to shred. The Howlett’s had employed a girl by the name of Rose to be their son’s nursemaid and hopefully friend. She too was present, and when he had killed the man, Logan’s mother set upon him and called him a freak. The boy fled and Rose took off after him. The man named Logan, had a son of which he chose to call ‘Dog’. Who had witnessed the events also. Both he and James mother claimed that Rose had killed Thomas Howlett, instigated truly by his grandfather, who then found Rose and gave her a some of money to take James away and never return. James had lost his memories of his past and as the pair of them travelled deeper into Canada, Rose gave him a new name. Logan. Why she chose it, she could not say, but she was pressed and as the man’s death was foremost on her mind, the name slipped past her lips and it stuck. They made their way to a mining encampment. Where James due to being small was set upon by most of the others there. At first it seemed the appearance of the claws was not to happen again, yet the more he was set upon the stronger that ‘Logan’ became. It ended it a fight where the still twelve year old child took on one of the worse of much older men in a fight and beat him. As the years past, Logan was given the nickname ‘Wolverine’ by others in the camp. He never seemed to stop working, and would go about hunting continually and providing them all with more than enough food. Even though he was strange and his appearance as he got older seemed to become more so, the people accepted him and were appreciative of what he did to help, due to the company making the prices for food in the one and only store extremely expensive. By the time that Logan was fifteen, he had fallen in love with Rose, only she was a good many years older than him and her heart belonged to another. A man named Smithy who had been the first to give the two runaways a job and place to live in the camp. When he reached sixteen, Rose told him that she and Smithy were to be wed, this enraged Logan and it was the first time that his berserker rage manifested itself, though he did Rose no harm. Disappearing for the next few months into the forest and living with the wild wolves. He came back and found out about a visiting bare knuckles fighting troop, they were offering a substantial amount of money to any who could beat their best fighter. This was the mutant known as Sabretooth. Logan took on the challenge and beat him, only Dog Logan, who had been sent by Logan’s grandfather showed up. He started a fight with Logan and was killed, yet during this, Rose was pushed and became impaled on Logan’s claws and died in his arms, (starting off something of a curse as far as Wolverine and women he loved is concerned, as later he was to kill Lady Mariko Yoshida with his claws on their wedding day), causing him to disappear into the wilderness. He’d actually gone into the mountains and had been living wild with a pack of wolves. The next time that Logan appeared he had got to Japan and was being tutored to become a Samurai. He married his instructors daughter, her name was Itsu. He had fallen in love with her the moment he had laid eyes upon her. She got pregnant and was killed when the baby growing in her womb was ripped from her in front of Logan’s eyes. He disappeared and reappeared some time later in the early 20th century and was being trained by a master of both the Samurai and Ninja arts named Ogun. He later was in the Canadian navy, took part in the second world war. Went undercover into Sobibor and a few other death camps, did numerous amounts of missions no one else would be able to at that time and then after the war, was taken off to a secret lab in Canada where he was forcefully enrolled into the Weapon X program. Here Logan was continually forced into training of one sort of another, his natural aggression fed and nurtured. The scientists running the whole thing attempting to bring on the berserker rage and find ways of controlling it. They pretty much failed at these attempts. Though with drugs and various other means, they gradually did gain some control of Logan himself, that was until his healing factor got used to any and all drugs they could use and he became immune to them all. By the 1950’s they were openly doing vivisection upon him as there was no point in trying to drug him. They simply restrained him with toughened steel, but again as his mutation is progressive, this made his strength increase until not even that worked and they had to find other means. Which of course they did. In the early 1940’s a scientist named Dr Myron MacLain had created an alloy by the name of Adamantium. It proved to be indestructible. MacLain began experimenting with the process that created Adamantium as a young scientist in the employ of the United States government in the early 1940s. Assigned to create a super-metal with which to build tanks, MacLain laboured for month, experimenting with various iron alloys. One of his experiments utilized the rare meteoric ore now known as Wakandan Vibranium. He tried to fuse the Vibranium to the iron alloy numerous times without success. Then one night when he dozed off, some as yet unknown factor entered the process, and permitted the fusion to occur. Upon discovering his success, MacLain poured the molten metal into a disc-shaped mold. The disc, once solidified, has proven to be the most impervious object ever created on Earth. MacLain turned the discover to the government and it was given to Captain America to use as his shield. Neither MacLain nor anyone else has ever been able to discover what was the x-factor that entered the process, or has been able to fuse Vibranium with another metal. (The unknown iron-Vibranium alloy of which the shield is composed resembles True Adamantium, although Adamantium itself contains no Vibranium,) Over the following decades MacLain experimented, attempting to duplicate the process that created the shield. Finally, at the end of the 1950‘s, he succeeded in developing the process by which the substance known as True Adamantium is created. True Adamantium is as strong as Captain America's shield, and is indestructible. The degree of impermeability varies directly with the thickness of the Adamantium. A direct blow from Thor's hammer, conveyed with the thunder god's full strength, will slightly dent a solid cylinder of True Adamantium. A sufficient mass of Adamantium could survive a direct hit from a nuclear weapon. Adamantium is created through the mixing of certain chemical resins whose composition is a United States government secret. For eight minutes after the resins are mixed, the Adamantium can be moulded into a particular shape as long as it is kept at a temperature of 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit. After this brief period the process of creating Adamantium is completed. The extremely unstable molecular structure of the Adamantium prevents it from being molded further, even if the temperature remains high enough to keep it in liquefied form. Only a device celled a Molecular Rearranger can alter the form of hardened Adamantium. The United States government shared the secret of Adamantium's composition with certain of its allies. Adamantium is extraordinarily expensive to produce. Therefore, certain parties who wish to use Adamantium on a large scale have resorted to utilizing a similar but somewhat weaker compound similar to True Adamantium called Secondary Adamantium. Although Secondary Adamantium is still far stronger than even titanium steel, it can be destroyed by sufficiently great amounts of force. In the early 1960’s the Weapon X super soldier program were given the permission of both the American and Canadian Governments to use the metal in an experiment. Logan became ‘Weapon X’ when they successfully coated his entire skeletal frame, including his claws in Adamantium. They kept him constrained while doing such with Adamantium, he was conscious and awake the entire time. Logan by the 1970’s was loaned out to various organizations, he had became a weapon to be used by the highest bidder. In the end of the 70’s Wolverine broke loose, due to them once more coating extra adamantium to his bones. He had no memories and lived for a good few years in the wilds of Canada again with a pack of wild wolves. Memories forgotten, the mid 80’s Logan was working as an undercover agent for various governmental bodies in Russia and various other such places. The late 90’s brought about change and an outbreak of mutant terrorist like attacks, Canada founded Alpha Flight, Logan became part of it and was once more working for the very people that had changed his life for the worse in the first part. All be it unknowingly. By 2005 Logan led his own Alpha Flight team and they got a reputation for being overly excessive as far as aggressive behaviour was concerned. Personality: Abilities: Regenerative Healing Factor: Wolverine's primary mutant power is an accelerated healing process that enables him to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with far greater efficiency than an ordinary human. Wolverine's accelerated healing powers have been commonly referred to as his mutant healing factor. Originally, the speed at which Wolverine healed was in proportion to the wound's severity; for example, he could fully recover from multiple gunshot wounds within minutes, Wolverine's healing ability has dramatically increased in recent years. Wolverine is now capable of fully healing injuries that result in massive tissue loss or damage such as multiple gunshot wounds, slashes, punctures, and severe burns within a matter of moments. Wolverine fully regenerates his entire body after having all of his bodily tissue incinerated down to his bare skeleton. This power even amends psychological wounds inflicted as a result of traumatic experiences. However, Wolverine's healing powers force his mind to suppress the memories, sometimes resulting in amnesia. Foreign Chemical Immunity: Wolverine's natural healing also affords him the virtual immunity to poisons and most drugs, except in massive doses. For example, it is extremely difficult for him to become intoxicated from alcohol. Immunity To Disease: Wolverine's highly efficient immune system, which is part of his accelerated healing factor, renders him immune against all known Earthly diseases and infections. Due to being constantly experimented upon he is also immune to any manmade viruses and plagues. Superhuman Stamina: Wolverine's mutant healing factor grants him high immunity against the fatigue toxins generated by his muscles during physical activity. Wolverine can sustain himself at peak capacity for several weeks. Wolverine has shown himself capable of fighting Omega Red for over eighteen hours, despite regular exposure to Omega Red's death spores. Superhuman Reflexes: Wolverine's bodily reaction time is accelerated to levels beyond the human body's natural limits. He can dodge most other mutant attacks even if at close range, due to such. Superhuman Agility: Wolverine's agility, bodily coordination, and balance are enhanced to levels beyond the human body's natural limits. Insulated Weather Adaptation: Wolverine's body is highly resistant to certain elemental extremes, particularly cold, to the extent that he can sleep nude in subarctic conditions with no apparent injury. Retardant Aging: In addition, Wolverine's healing factor provides him with an extended lifespan by slowing the effects of the aging process. Wolverine was born sometime in the mid 19th century. Although well over 100 years of age, Wolverine retains the appearance and physical vitality of a man in the physical prime of his life. He appears to all extent and purposes to be around twenty five years of age. Superhumanly Acute Senses: Wolverine possesses superhumanly acute senses that are comparable to those of certain animals. He can see at far greater distances, with perfect clarity, than an ordinary human. He retains this same level of clarity even in near total darkness. His hearing is enhanced in a similar manner, allowing him to detect sounds ordinary humans can't or to hear at much greater distances. He is able to recognize people and objects by scent, even if they are well hidden. He can track a target by scent, even if the scent has been greatly eroded by time and weather factors, with an extraordinary degree of success. Wolverine can also use his keen sense of smell to detect lies due to chemical changes within a person's scent. These senses stem from, at least partially, his constant cellular regeneration, as are his enhanced physical capabilities. Superhuman Strength: Wolverine's Mutant Healing Factor enables him to push his muscles beyond the natural limits of the human body without injury, granting him some degree of superhuman strength. His natural strength is augmented by the demand placed on his musculature due to the presence of Adamantium bonded to his skeleton, which also removes the natural limitations of the human skeletal structure by allowing him to lift weights that would damage a human skeleton. Wolverine has been depicted with sufficient strength to pick up large vehicles (such as armoured vehicles, tanks and train engines) and he supports the weight of a dozen men with one arm. Bone Claws: Wolverine's skeleton includes six retractable one-foot-long bone claws, three in each arm, that are housed beneath the skin and muscle of his forearms. Wolverine can, at will, release these slightly curved claws through his skin beneath the knuckles on each hand. The skin between the knuckles tears and bleeds, but the blood loss is quickly halted by his Healing Factor. Wolverine can unsheathe any number of his claws at once, although he must keep his wrists straight at the moment his claws pass from his forearms into his hands. When unsheathed, the claws are entirely within his hands, allowing him to bend his wrists when they are extended. The claws are made of bone, unlike the claws of normal mammals which are made of keratin. The bone claws are sharp and dense enough to slice through substances as durable as most metals, wood, and stone. They are coated with True Adamantium and can cut anything and everything but True Adamantium. Psionic Resistance: Logan merely has limited shielding, but as his mutation is progressive the more he is subjected to such the stronger they will become. Immuinity to magic: He has been shown to be completely immune to the Scarlet Witches hex bolts and her black magic. Berserker Rage: Wolverine goes into a berserker rage, he becomes more pumped up and animal like. The rage is empowered by the planet itself and incorporates all the fury that nature feels over the destruction and unnatural eradication and extinction of animal life. Physical Mutations: Wolverine has fur not hair. He has fanged teeth, this his canine teeth being much larger than any average persons, looking if you wish like that of a vampires. He has leaf shaped ears, but normally they are well hidden behind his fur that grows around his face in a wolf like mane.
